“Join the Localmotion, Ride the Locavore Express!!! at Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm’s 1st Annual Corn Maze”

Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm and WCTY have partnered to bring you this fun and educational experience that the whole family will enjoy!  Visit local farms along the way as you follow the “Locavore Express” through the corn maze and learn how to become a Locavore!

What’s a Locavore, you ask?  The word “Locavore” was the 2007 new word of the year for the Oxford American Dictionary.

A locavore is someone who eats food grown or produced locally or within a certain radius such as 50 or 100 from home. The locavore movement encourages consumers to buy from local farms or farmers’ markets or even to produce their own food, with the argument that fresh, local products are more nutritious and taste better. Locally grown food is an environmentally friendly means of obtaining food, since supermarkets that import their food use more fossil fuels and non-renewable resources.
